BA Spanish Language Teaching from the University of Texas at Austin and Teacher Certification from UTeach Liberal Arts
What is your strongest quality as an educator?
I think I am a very enthusiastic and creative teacher and I strive to provide an outlet for my students to showcase their own creativity and excellence as well.
In 150 characters or less, why do you teach?
Teaching is the most fun and rewarding job I’ve had. Helping someone understand something new is one of the best feelings in the world.
What book(s) are you currently reading?
Reading Lolita in Tehran
Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls
Who is the most passionate educator you know?
Rose Potter: one of the amazing professors I had in the UTeach program. She is a fantastic role model: she cares deeply for her students and has a real joy for life and learning. She is the definition of a lifelong learner.
What qualities do you most admire in a student?
Learning something new (especially a language) and taking risks (especially onstage) can be scary. That’s why I really appreciate the determination and enthusiasm I’ve seen from my students. I love working with my students; they are constantly inspiring me.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love performing and I try to see as much theater as I can. I also love to dance and sing and am currently learning guitar and ukulele. I also like to read and play games (TelephonePictionary and Apples to Apples are some of my favorites). I only draw or paint every once-in-a-while, but it is always relaxing when I do. I love to travel and there are many more places in the world I want to explore. My husband and I are new “parents” of a tortoise hatchling, so recently we have been enjoying spending time with it and anthropomorphizing everything it does.
