North Richland Hills Hosts ATA's Champ Qualified Athletes

North Richland Hills hosted the Championship qualified athletes from around the state for July’s Major Zone. Nineteen ATA athletes traveled to the Dallas area for the event.

Spencer Chiu ran through his boy’s 12s draw to earn the championship crown. He won four straight matches and eight straight sets.

Katherine Spencer beat Anna Schneemann 6-3, 6-1 for her fourth straight win and a spot in the finals. Remi Immler reached the semi finals by beating A. Mendoze 6-3, 6-1 in the quarters. Allie Young won two matches in tight third set tie-breakers to reach the quarter finals. She beat A. Maraif 2-6, 6-2, 10-8, then defeated T. Gray 7-5, 3-6, 11-9. Georgia Stevens earned valuable tournament experience in two matches over the weekend.

Keaton Qualls defeated the number four seed G. Weinkamin 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Keaton’s second win secured him a spot in the semi finals. Rahul Gorti took down Cole Cecil 6-3, 4-6, 10-6, and Daniel Champion 6-3, 6-2 to reach the consolation finals. Erik Kerrigan beat D. Gilliam 6-3, 6-0 before falling to teammate Chiu in a tight quarter final match.

In the boy’s 14s, Rohan Makhija beat Ryan Anderson 6-1, 6-3, advancing to the quarter finals. Sreyas Mahadevan defeated Parker Willis 6-1, 6-1, reaching the consolation semi finals.Colton Malesovas beat James Banner for his fourth straight win and a spot in the final round. Jaxon Immler took down the number two seed Joseph Baker 6-3, 2-6, 10-2 to reach the semi finals. Neel Kumar beat teammate Greyson Brilliant 6-3, 6-4 to reach the second round. Brilliant bounced back to beat the top seeded Kelton Duffer 6-3, 6-1. Liam Leddy reached the consolation quarter finals by beating Brandon Anwar 7-6, 7-6. Garrett Callen fell in two tough matches over the weekend.

Allie Carlisle advanced to the quarter finals of her girl’s 14s draw by defeating P. Moolamalla 6-2, 3-6, 10-1. Jacqueline Patterson out lasted Rachel Wilson to a 6-7, 6-1, 10-4 victory in her first round match. Smrithi Hariharan lost two tough matches in the girl’s 16s.
