ATA Named USTA Certified Regional Training Center
The Austin Tennis Academy is proud to be named the newest Certified Regional Training Center (RTC) by the United States Tennis Association.
ATA is now the third USTA Certified Regional Training Center in the country. It is part of an overall goal to expand and improve American junior tennis, in order to produce future American tennis champions on the world stage.
"We are excited to partner with the Austin Tennis Academy in Texas which is known for its dynamic programming and accomplished coaching staff," said Patrick McEnroe, General Manager, USTA Player Development.
The regional training centers are part of an expansion of the USTA's Player Development program's. By teaming up with proven academies, tennis centers and clubs, the USTA is intensifying its influence and scope throughout the country in an attempt to recruit the best young athletes to the game of tennis.
ATA joins the Racquet Club of the South in Atlanta and The Junior Tennis Champions Center in Maryland as Certified Regional Training Centers. Over the next five years, around a dozen more RTC's will be named by the USTA.
"I think the USTA is doing it right," ATA CEO Jack Newman said. "They are doing it from the bottom up, rather than a top down system with these regional training centers. I think it's a great way to expose all of the great talent that we have in Texas to our coaching staff. Other coaching staffs from across the state have committed to being a part of our network, so I think it will be great for Texas tennis."
