Coach Brian Notis Earns the Lloyd Sessions Educational Merit Award

Austin Tennis Academy's Director of Junior Academy, Brian Notis, was presented with the Lloyd Sessions Educational Merit Award on February 14, 2009.

Coach Notis was awarded this prestigious honor for his significant contributions to promoting the game of tennis in the state of Texas. He was acknowledged and presented with a trophy at the annual USTA Texas Section Awards Banquet.

"I am both honored and humbled to receive this award and to be recognized by USTA Texas Section and my peers for the contribution I've made to Texas tennis," Notis said.

Starting his career in Austin at Caswell Tennis Center, Coach Notis has been involved in junior tennis in Texas for the past 20 years. Today, Notis manages the Junior Academy program and is responsible for directing many tournaments. He also spends his time organizing junior team tennis, Texas zonal teams and working individually with some of ATA's junior athletes. Josh Hagar, one of Coach Notis' primary students founded the ATA's Playing for Glimmer Campaign along with becoming a top 10 ranked player in Texas in Boys 14 & under.

This is not the first time he has been recognized for his contributions. Notis' uncommon passion and enthusiasm for the game of tennis earned him the Capitol Area Tennis Association's Junior Coach of the Year award in 2004.

"I feel so fortunate to be able to earn a living doing something I love and working with such an extraordinary group of coaches, players and parents here at ATA," Notis said. "That makes the long days in the sun or the cold all worthwhile."

Austin Tennis Academy CEO Jack Newman (a former Lloyd Session's award recipient) had this to say: "Coach Brian Notis is one of the best junior developers in Texas, this is a well deserved recognition of his contribution to player development both on and off the court."
