Trey Phillips Named Managing Director of the Austin Tennis Academy
Head Coach and CEO Jack Newman pleased and proud to announce the hiring of Trey Phillips as Managing Director of the Austin Tennis Academy.
Mr. Phillips is a minority owner of ATA, and he has been involved at ATA since 2004. Trey will round out our management team as Managing Director.
Trey Phillips grew up in Austin, TX, was a 2-time state champion at Westlake High School and was a 3-time All-American at the University of Texas
Trey played on the professional tennis tour for five years after college, and was a participant in all of the Grand Slam Championships. Since 2000, he has been a collegiate men’s tennis coach at UNC-Chapel Hill and then at UT-Austin, he has started a club from the ground up, Lakecliff Racquet Club, and he has coached at the Austin Tennis Academy.
Most recently, he has been involved in luxury resort real estate development for the Staubach Company.
As Managing Director, he will be involved in every aspect of ATA management. His primary role will be in promoting the ATA brand, programs and coaches with parents, coaches, players and prospective clients of the Austin Tennis Academy as well as the tennis community at large. Maintaining regular communication with Academy parents will be a primary focus as well as directing the college process for the academy program’s rising juniors and seniors.
Trey will build upon the success of the ATA Shootout and Esmeralda’s Run as director of both events. He will also direct ATA’s outreach efforts with Camp Glimmer and the Playing for Glimmer campaigns
In addition to managerial duties, Coach Phillips will work on-court with all ATA programs - Academy, Junior Academy, and Junior Development, as well as attend tournaments as a coach.
