Coach Notis Nominated for 2008 Texas Intersectional Team
Austin Tennis Academy’s Director of Junior Academy, Brian Notis has been selected for the 2008 Texas Men’s Intersectional Team to compete in the Men’s 35 and over division. The team will play the USTA National Men’s Intersectional Team Championships Nov. 20-23 in Arlington.
“I am honored at the opportunity to represent Texas on the team this year,” Coach Notis said.
As a player, Coach Notis earned All-American honors all three years at the University of Texas Tyler, with an NAIA Team National Championship in 1994. Today he continues to succeed nationally in competitive tennis, earning 18 USTA balls, with 6 gold ball national championships all in the past five years.
“While my primary goals have definatly shifted from my own tennis to coaching in the past several years, I still really enjoy competing and will continue to compete as long as that does not change,” Coach Notis said.
The teams were selected by a subcommittee of the Senior Tennis Council of the USTA Texas Section. The tournament will be held at Arlington Tennis Center, and all USTA sections are eligible to enter. There will be divisions for men’s 35s, 45s, 55s, 65s and 75s, with each playing both singles and doubles.
“I have made so many friends throughout my years of playing competitive tennis and it will be great to have many of them as my teammates next month,” Coach Notis said.
