Lakes Tennis Academy Match-Play, Competitive Variety, Pizza
Frisco’s Lakes Tennis Academy brought 20 Super-Champ players to the Austin Tennis Academy March 1st and 2nd, giving both programs the opportunity for extensive and varied competition. In addition to match-play against unfamiliar competition, the programs capped off the weekend with the all-important Sunday staple, a pizza party.
ATA Head Coach Jack Newman created a dual match format with the ATA team captained by Jon Stockdale, Mary Bain and Blair Jones. On Saturday, each Academy player competed in 7 sets against 3 or 4 different singles opponents and 3 or 4 doubles teams. On Sunday, the format again offered the variety of competition, but with a 2 out of 3 set format and a 2 all start.
After competition closed on Sunday, both programs met in the fitness center, enjoying some well earned pizza and camaraderie. Through out the year, ATA schedules match-play days against local and state programs, a valuable opportunity for non-tournament competition. Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Lakes Tennis Academy match-play weekend at ATA.
