Sectional Mo 2008: Journeys Start Here
Named for Texas’ own legendary Little Mo, Grand Slam winner Maureen Connolly, the Sectional Little Mo began play February 16-17 in Arlington, Texas. Three of Austin Tennis Academy’s under 11 players competed in the prestigious entry level tournament won in the past by Andy Roddick, Ashley Weinhold and Blake Davis.
Already an experienced tournament player, Payton Holden’s finalist result in the boys’ 10 and under division was not unexpected. Payton won three matches, beating Alexander Joseph 6-3 in the semi-final round. In the same division, Sanjit Kumar won his first round over Jonathan Martin 6-2. In the girls’ 10 and under division, Grace Rodgers won a close match over Abigail Mendoza 6-3.
Congratulations to the Austin Tennis Academy competitors in the Sectional Little Mo in Arlington. These players may earn spots in the upcoming Regional Little Mo May 24-26. Austin Tennis Academy is hosting the National Little Mo October 17-20, where some of our very own young players will play in a national tournament at the Austin Tennis Academy with the possibility of earning spots in the International Little Mo.
