Add them all together and you get the first day of the ATA/LTYA Scoop it up League. It was an amazing day at ATA.
As you know we started a new project for ATA yesterday, the Lake Travis Youth Association Scoop It Up league. A staggering 176 local youths from 1st through 6th grade signed up to play.
Thanks to the players and coaches and staff, the first session was a huge success. It was rewarding for us to see so many kids enjoying the game of tennis and being able to play after one day! Simply amazing! The kids received a brand new Wilson tennis racquet, special Scoop It Up ball and a bright orange LTYA Tennis (Lake Travis Youth Association) t-shirt to proudly wear around town and at school.
Every one of our coaching staff worked with the kids yesterday and I know they are exhausted, but felt really energized by seeing so many kids enthusiastic about tennis. Our Academy players also hit with the kids, coached the kids, and helped with check-in and registration.
Since our mission is to help junior players reach their full potential as tennis players and human beings and projects like this really fit for us. Everyone grew from the experience.
And, Scoop it UP was just part of this weekend.
Weekends like this at ATA are pretty typical but filled with action.
Here's what also happened this weekend: a team trip to Rockport for a High School tournament Friday (ATA won the tournament with Ethan Horn winning boys singles, Claire Cahill winning girls singles (beating ATA teammate Adrian Turner in the finals), Jon Stockdale and Conor O'Rourke winning boys doubles and Claire & Kate Cahill winning girls doubles), plus our Mixed Doubles tournament for adults put on for the Austin Women’s Tennis Association on Friday night, Scoop It Up on Saturday afternoon, Mentor/Mentee tournament Saturday night, and Junior Team Tennis on Sunday, the action at ATA was fast and furious over the past 48 hours.
Thanks to all coaches, parents and ATA players who made yesterday one of the most important days in ATA history.
For those of you who missed it yesterday, stop by any of the next 5 Saturdays between 1-5 pm and you too can witness the tennis circus in action.
