Texas Cup Returns!
Please reserve Friday April 29 and Saturday April 30th for the return of the Texas Cup dual match.
"Picture a cross between a Davis Cup or Ryder cup match and a University of Texas versus Texas A&M football game. The crowd at the Texas Cup is vocal and noisy, with enthusiastic rivalries and a high ‘fun factor’ - yet the level of tennis is at the highest level of national play."The Austin Tennis Academy will host Team AJ from Houston in a return to the Texas Cup dual match format.
The match weekend will consist of the following:
Friday Evening April 29th
7:30PM Opening Ceremonies at Austin Tennis Academy followed by 8 Mixed Doubles Matches (8 game pro set) (All this going on while we are also hosting the CATA tour event for that weekend.)
Saturday Morning April 30th
The Texas Cup match will move to LakeCliff for the following
8 Boys Singles, 8 Girls Singles, 4 Boys Doubles, 4 Girls Doubles
Lunch
8 Boys Singles, 8 Girls Singles, 4 Boys Doubles, 4 Girls Doubles
So it's a total of 56 matches.
Saturday's matches will be best 2 of 3 sets. The team with the most points at the end of the day takes home the coveted Texas Cup trophy.
On court coaching is allowed and lots of noise, cheering, noise makers are allowed. This is a exciting weekend of tennis and you and your children will be inspired by the tennis these top junior players put on the court.
