Team Tennis Tournament Benefits Giving Well Fund Raiser
Congratulations to all 50 players in last weekend’s ATA Team tournament to support the Giving Well fund raiser project on behalf of A Glimmer of Hope. Team Addis Ababa won the event, edging out Team Dembi Dolo in the least sets lost tiebreaker after these two teams and Team Aksum were all tied with a 2-1 win/loss record after the three dual matches.
Captained by Millie Nichols and John Brickley, team Addis Ababa came through on Sunday with a big win over Team Dembi Dolo. Zoe Kearl and Grayson Brilliant clinched the match for Team Addis in one of the final doubles matches.
The $1250 in entry fees will be donated to the ATA players’ well project in conjunction with A Glimmer of Hope. ATA will absorb the costs for balls, courts, coaches time and lunch provided to the players on Saturday.
ATA players reached their goal of raising $3000. Older, more accomplished players had the opportunity to act as team captains and coaches. All who entered got good solid competition in preparation for next weekend’s tournaments. It was a solid weekend of tennis.
