Wikso, Kerrigan, Foreman and Bender Qualify In Sept Major Zones
The September major zones took the ATA Academy players to Waco, Clear Lake and Belton this past weekend, while our 12s and 14s super qualified players enjoyed the home courts here in Austin.
Four players, Jesse Wikso, Kristin Kerrigan, Jackson Foreman and Kyler Bender, qualified to the next competitive level with their results over the weekend.
Kyler Bender earned Champ status and went undefeated to win the Belton ZAT.

"Kyler had worked hard over the past year to reach this level,” Coach Jack Newman said. “His consistency at practice is a major factor in qualifying to champs."
Kyler didn’t drop a set the through the tournament until the finals, when he pulled out a clutch 10-8 in the third set breaker victory.
Jackson Foreman qualified for the champ division also in the Belton ZAT, by reaching the semifinals.

"Jackson had an amazing summer and has put in the work to earn this success," Coach John said.
In Clear Lake, Kristin Kerrigan leaped to the super champ level and reached the final round of her girls 12s draw. She won three matches to qualify and secure second place in her draw.

"Kristin was calm and patient in her qualifying match,” Coach John said. “That could have been because she didn't know it was her qualifying match, ha. Either way, she was on a mission!"
Jesse Wikso, also competing in the Clear Lake Champ, qualified to supers by reaching the finals oh his boys 12s draw. He won three matches while only dropping a total of three games before going down in the final round.

"Jesse out-classed the competition to the finals," Coach John said.
In Austin, Jake Berber and Molly Fisher both fought their ways to the semi finals of the 14s draws.
Jake Berber won three matches before falling in a battle to Charles Tan 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.

“Jake had a very solid event,” Coach Brandon said. “He played very solid tennis throughout the whole tournament. He was one or two points away from winning his semifinal match and I am very confident that he will win that match next time and win the tournament as well.”

Molly, coming in as the top seed, fought to earn four wins and reach the semi finals. There she fell to M. Shkolnaya.
“Molly fought through some tough matches to get to the semifinals, battling emotions and opponents along the way,” Coach Brandon said. “She ran out of gas in the semis but overall it was a successful event and I look for her to do well the following tournament.”
