Weinhold Climbs to Career High 208 WTA Singles Ranking
WTA Touring Professional and Austin Tennis Academy’s own Ashley Weinhold reached an all-time high when the new rankings came out today. Ashley is currently ranked 208 in singles and 265 in doubles in the world.
“I’ve been building confidence with each tournament I play,” Weinhold said. “I know the process and I’ve accepted the fact that nothing comes easy at this level."

Ashley finished 2010 ranked 343 in singles. In 2011, she has logged 18 wins and 13 losses, while claiming one ITF Women’s Singles Circuit title. Nearly mid-way through her 6th professional year, Ashley has compiled an impressive singles record of 131 – 110.
This year, one of Ashley’s goals was to compete in the Qualifying for Wimbledon. While she barely missed it, her recent tournament results have secured a spot for her in the upcoming US Open.

“I believe I can compete with anyone now,” Ashley said. “Staying healthy and having confidence in myself is a big component to moving up in the rankings. I’m motivated more than ever to make another jump and play in higher-level tournaments.”
ATA CEO Jack Newman has been around Ashley as a coach, mentor and friend since she was very young. When asked about her recent jump in the rankings, Newman was not a bit surprised.

“Ashley Weinhold told me that she wanted to be a professional tennis player when she was 8 years old,” Newman said. “From that time until today, she has pursued that goal single-mindedly. This is just another step towards being a top 100 player in the world.”
Ashley turns 22 years old today. Happy birthday, Ashley!
