Two ATA College Prep Seniors Recognized with Scholarships
“Winning this scholarship is really important to me because it is given based on both academics and athletics,” Taylor said.
The TTEF scholarship is granted based on a student’s academic record throughout high school, qualities of leadership and extracurricular accomplishments including tennis, the student’s self-description, test scores, and financial need.
I’m really proud of this award, and lots of people have helped me along the way,” Taylor said. “Carol, Coach Newman, and my parents have played a big part in pushing me on and off the court.”
The Capital Area Tennis Association, a non-profit tennis organization, distributes college scholarships each year to local graduating high school seniors. Applications for the scholarship are evaluated ‘on the basis of tennis involvement in conjunction with the student’s scholastic achievements and involvement in community service.’
“I credit my parents and coach Newman for believing in me and supporting me over these past three years,” Aaron said. “I also credit my peers at ATA College Prep for continuing to push me both on the tennis court and in the classroom.”
