Mayo and Conor Cliam Regional Doubles Crown
Three of ATA’s Academy players competed in the UIL Regional Tournament, representing Lake Travis High School this past week, with two moving on to the state tournament next month.
Courtney Schulte, Austin Mayo, and Conor O’Rourke all attend Austin Tennis Academy while going to school at, and competing for, Lake Travis High School.

Austin Mayo and Conor O’Rourke, pictutred above, teamed up to claim the regional crown. After pulling out a tough semifinal match, the duo faced last year’s state champions from Boerne HS in the finals. Mayo and O’Rourke took out Fellows and Gorgham 6-3, 6-4 to win the regional tournament.
“I can tell you without hesitation that they played the best doubles of the year,” Coach Creel said.

Courtney Schulte, pictured above on the right, joined forces with Hunyeh Hoghoogi to earn 3rd place in the region. After dropping a hard-fought semifinal match, the team defeated Lewis and Rodriguez from Vandergrift in the 3rd place match, 6-2, 6-2.
Austin and Conor earned a spot in the state tournament on May 9 and 10. The two will look to make a run at a state title at UT’s Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
