Ashley's Tournament #4 in Spain
Hello,
The last 24 hours have been pretty rough. I seem to have caught a stomach virus or the flu or something to add on top of the sore throat and cough I've had. I was throwing up in the middle of the night last night. I get hot and cold really fast and my stomach hurts. A few of the other girls have the same thing. It may be from something we ate last night, I don't know, but it's not fun.
More bad news...I lost my singles match today 2-6, 1-6. The conditions were tough today with the cold temperatures, wind, and the sun most of all. The entire 1st set and 2 games of the 2nd you could hardly see the ball and your opponent from one end of the court as the sun was setting. That made it a bit more challenging. The 2-2 game in the 1st set pretty much made the set and the match...I got broken in that long game. From then on I just kept playing worse and was out of gas by the end. The game plan that I had going into the match with specific things to do didn't happen very much. Instead she was doing to me exactly what I wanted to do to her. She served well and didn't make very many mistakes. I didn't do very many things well in the match and wish I could have played a lot better and felt better also. That's just the breaks sometimes.
I have doubles tomorrow afternoon not before 2:30 against the #1 seeds...I can't remember their names at the moment...hopefully I'll be feeling a little better tomorrow and we'll play well together. We'll see what happens.
I'm starting to miss home a lot which isn't always the case when I'm on the road at tournaments. But I'm going to have to suck it up and do my best for the rest of the time I'm over. I'll let you know how doubles goes tomorrow. I'm off to hydrate and sleep. Adios for now.
