Coach Strecker and His Tri4Glimmer Campaign
Coach Estevam Strecker is well underway in his training for a full ironman this coming August. He is using his training and competing in triathlons to benefit A Glimmer of Hope Foundation.

This year, Coach Strecker established Tri4Glimmer in conjunction with Playing for Glimmer Campaign, where he will race a 140.6-mile Ironman event in Louisville, KY. The goal is to raise $25,000.00 dollars to complete the Hospital and projects in the Wudhet Village of rural Ethiopia.
The Tri4Glimmer event will put anyone who signs up and raises money through a miniature version of a triathlon. Participants will be put into teams, and together they will complete a brief swim followed by a quick bike ride and finish with a short run through Spanish Oaks. Registrants must raise money by getting sponsors to participate in the fun mini-triathlon. However, anyone can get sponsors and raise money and elect not to swim/bike/run.

In 2008, Coach Strecker raced a 70.3-mile Ironman event and he asked people to sponsor him as part of the Playing for Glimmer Campaign. With the help of friends and family Coach Strecker raised $3,500.00 dollars.
“The greatest thing that I accomplished in 2008 was the ability to build a well and name it after my father who passed away in 2004 while helping the people from rural Ethiopia,” Coach Strecker said.

Both Tri4Glimmer and Playing for Glimmer benefit A Glimmer of Hope Foundation. A Glimmer of Hope helps lift women and children out of extreme poverty in rural Ethiopia. Using an entrepreneurial model it provides clean water, schools, health clinics and micro-finance loans, one village at a time. 100 percent of all donations go directly to funding these projects. Glimmer’s endowment covers all its operating expenses and even replaces credit card transaction fees. Every dollar donated through Glimmer reaches the people in need. Over the last 10 years, Glimmer has completed more than 5000 projects and improved 2.4 million lives.

Coach Strecker will compete in his first race of the season leading to Louisville this coming weekend at the Capital of Texas Triathlon in downtown Austin.
